TDP demands CBI probe into alleged sex scandal

Hyderabad, December 27: Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu reiterated his demand that the Centre order a probe by CBI into the alleged sex scandal involving Governor Narayan Datt Tiwari, who sent his resignation to President Pratibha Patil on Saturday.

“Tiwari resigned from his post following unprecedented and unethical allegations against him.

Democratic traditions warrant an impartial inquiry to establish the veracity of the allegations and place the facts before the public…The Telugu Desam Party demands a probe by CBI to protect the sanctity of the office of Governor,” Chandrababu today said in a statement after news of the Governor’s resignation broke out.

Some MPs were also allegedly involved in the sex scandal, the TDP chief said, referring to news reports.

“Immoral activities on part of the highest constitutional functionary in the state, his associates and some MPs brought down the prestige of the gubernatorial office,” he lamented.
