TDP demands all party meet on Pranahita-Chevella project

The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday demanded that the State Government convene an all party meeting to discuss the agreement that it signed with Maharashtra Government on Pranahita-Chevella project.

Talking to reporters at NTR Trust Bhavan, Rajya Sabha MP T Devender Goud said that the State Government was yet to clarify several things related to the Pranahita-Chevella project. He said it was not yet made clear as to where the barrage would be constructed. Demanding that the government make the details of the agreement public, he alleged that about Rs 1600 crore have already been embezzled in the name of construction straightway for the project by the YSR Government.

Goud said that about 3,000 MW power would be required for the project and the government has not yet clarified on how that would be arranged through APGENCO and how it could be re-utilised.

The TDP MP also expressed concern over the Babli project which he said could adversely affect the Sriram Sagar project. He demanded that all the political parties should unanimously demand that the Centre give National Project status to the Pranahita-Chevella project. (INN)
