Hyderabad, June 28: The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday demanded that the state government send an all-party delegation to the Central Water Commission over the Babli Project.
Talking to media persons on Sunday, senior TDP leaders Kadiam Srihari and Venugopalachary said that a team of TDP leader would submit a memorandum to Chief Minister K Rosaiah urging the government to intervene and stop the works by the Maharashtra government on the Babli Project.
They said that if work on the Babli Project is allowed to continue, the supply of water to the Sriram Sagar Project will be dried up.
The TDP leaders said that a TDP delegation will leave for New Delhi on June 29 and meet the Central Water Commission. They will also meeting the Union Irrigation Minister over the issue and demand that works on the Babli Project and the 11 other projects under it, be stopped forthwith.
If the CWC does not take any action on their memorandum, the TDP delegation would come back to Hyderabad and devise an action plan on how to raise the issue among the people.
They said that the TDP has been fighting for the Sriram Sagar Project since the last six years and have been jailed over the issue in Maharashtra.
