The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today complained to Andhra Pradesh Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Bhanwarlal against Congress Party and YSR Congress Party for allegedly distributing gold ornaments to the electorate in a bid to buy their votes in the bye-elections. In a complaint to Mr Bhanwarlal, copies of which were released to the media here, TDP Politburo Member Dadi Veerabhadra Rao alleged the two parties had committed offences indulging corrupt practices by distributing gold ornaments like ear-rings and nose-rings to women in the constituencies where the bye-elections are slated. The TDP had lodged a complaint to the CEO yesterday alleging distribution of sarees and gold ornaments by the YSR Congress Party candidate in Ongole Assembly Constituency. Mr Rao also said reports were also received from the constituencies that leaders and functionaries of the ruling Congress and YSR Congress Party ordered and stored thousands of gold ornaments to distribute the voters. In another complaint, Mr Rao said police seized a van unauthorizedly transporting cell phones worth of Rs 1.7 crore at Kagitha toll gate in Nakkapalli Mandal of Visakapatnam district. UNI
