TDP Chief N Chandrababu Naidu has lashed out at the Congress government for increasing power charges, putting thousands of crores of rupees burden on the people, and said that it was painful.
Addressing the gathering after launching one day ‘Deeksha’ protesting against the power problems, at the Nagamalli Thota Sub-Station here on Monday, Chandrababu said that the Congress government has destroyed the power sector and made the State a dark one.
Dubbing the Chief Minister N Kiran Kuamr Reddy’s government as a blind one, Chandrababu said that the then TDP government supplied nine-hour power to the farmers though drought prevailed for four consecutive years. He has alleged that the present Chief Minister has no knowledge on power sector.
The Former chief minister said that there would not have been problems if the State purchased power much before and alleged that Kiran indulged in corrupt practices in purchasing the power and import of coal. He alleged that the former chief minister late Dr YSR given permissions to the private companies by taking bribes but the same private companies were selling the power to other states.
Chandrababu asked the Chief Minister to tell his share in purchasing the power at Rs.12.30 paisa per unit and said that the Congress governments from Dr YSR to Kiran destroyed the power sector, which was good during the TDP regime. Alleging that the Congress MPs and Ministers were waste lot, Chandrababu said that the Congress government thrown the power sector to Rs.40,000 crore debts.
TDP Chief hurled a challenge at the Chief Minister to release a ‘white paper’ on power sector from 1994 to 2013 if the latter had guts, and said that the facts will come out as to who did what. He said that the TDP stuck to the facts mentioned in the ‘black paper’ released by it.
Demanding the State government to extend ex-gratia to the withered away crops, Chandrababu said that the small scale industries got effected severely with the power cuts.
Huge number of leaders, party workers and local people attended Chandrababu’s one day deeksha and the deeksha continued till 5 PM.
