TDP charges govt with indulging in coal scam

TDP senior leader Revanth Reddy has alleged that the State government had indulged in a big scam in coal import.

Talking to the media here on Thursday, he demanded disclosure of details of coal imported from other countries for power generation. Stating that his party was ready for a debate on the irregularities, Revanth Reddy said that they have got all the evidence necessary to prove that there was a scam. He dismissed the claim of officials that there were no irregularities in coal import.

Revanth Reddy alleged that the government has given tenders to parties it was interested in, in the guise of public sector understandings. He questioned why global tenders were not called for coal import. He said the government has entered into an agreement with a Gujarat company with which Congress leaders had connection and given contract to that company, against all norms. He said that his party has come to the conclusion that there were irregularities as the government has not given information though they had asked for it under the Right to Information Act.

Demanding that the Chief Minister give an explanation on coal imports, Revanth Reddy has said all facts would come out if a comprehensive inquiry was ordered. (NSS)
