TDP, BJP finalises seat-sharing pact

The Telugu Desam Party on Sunday finalised the seat-sharing pact with the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Addressing a joint press conference with BJP Spokesperson Prakash Javedkar, TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu announced that the TDP would leave five Lok Sabha and 15 Assembly seats in residuary State of Andhra Pradesh and eight Lok Sabha and 47Assembly seats in Telangana for the BJP. He said that seats to be contested by the BJP would be finalised shortly.

Strongly defending his decision, Naidu said that he was allying with the BJP in the national interest. He said country needs a leader like Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and there was an urgent need for a Congress-free Government at the Centre. He alleged that the country was facing problems of corruption, misrule, inflation and rising unemployment due to the Congress-led UPA Government. He said that the aim of the BJP-led NDA is to win 300 seats in the ensuing general elections.

Naidu further claimed that Modi was contesting the election on the slogan of development and he has been enjoying the support of all sections of the society.

When asked about the opposition to alliance by the Telangana BJP District Units, Prakash Javedkar said that the opposition has been subsided and both the parties were working in tandem. (INN)
