Vijayawada: NDA allies BJP and TDP would hold consultations at the top level to decide which party would contest the bye-election to Warangal (SC) Lok Sabha constituency in Telangana scheduled for November 21.
Telangana TDP leaders today met party President and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu here today and discussed the by-poll issue, among others.
“We broadly felt here today that the presidents of the two parties would take a decision,” TDP Polit Bureau member Ravula Chandrasekhar Reddy told reporters after the meeting.
BJP had contested last year’s election in Warangal as part of seat sharing understanding between the two parties.
A meeting of the two parties would be held in Warangal tomorrow as part of continuing deliberations, Reddy said.
He quoted Naidu as having suggested that effective coordination is important between the two parties for better results.
The ruling TRS in Telangana has left people disappointed for not having delivered on its election promises, he claimed.
The by-poll is necessitated by the resignation of incumbent Kadiam Srihari who became the deputy chief minister of Telangana.
The gazette notification for the poll would be issued tomorrow. The last date for withdrawal of candidature is November 7 and the counting of votes would be taken up on November 24.
