Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy today said his party president  Chandrababu Naidu has given him free hand to select candidate for Palair Assembly constituency in Khammam district.

Telangana TDP leaders today called on party president and AP Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and held consultations for selection of candidate for Palair seat where bye-elections are scheduled to be held on May 16. Along with Revanth Reddy, TDPP president L RAmana, former MP Nama Nageshwar Rao, MLA Sandra Venkataveeraiah attended the meeting. Senior leader Motkupally Narasimhulu did not attend the meeting.

Revanth Reddy said after consulting with all leaders a final decision would be taken on the contest of Palair bye-election. The party president has advised Telanagana leaders to strive for strengthening of the party as they are the persons who have to take care of the party in Telangana. “At the time of Narayankhed bye-election, Congress did not consult us and all parties contested those elections. But this time, the Congress party approached us on Palair election. The CPI and YSRCP parties have informed that they are not going to contest the election”, he added.

Revanth Reddy said the party would decide after consulting all its leaders belonging to Telangana. The party has two options whether to contest or not in support of the family of MLA, who died recently. However, Khammam district leaders are in favor of candidature of former MP Nama Nageshwara Rao for the bye-elections. Stating that votes and seats are not important for us, our party always strives to do service to the people, he said, adding that a final decision would be taken on Sunday. (NSS)
