Guntur (AP), April 09: TDP chief Chandrababu Naidu today launched a tirade against Karnataka and Maharashtra, accusing them of excessive consumption of water from Krishna and Godavari rivers, saying it had left command areas in Andhra Pradesh barren.
The former AP chief minister accused the state government of lethargy and indifference to the plight of farmers in the Krishna and Godavari river valleys at a protest meet called “Maha Dharna” on Prakasam Barrage of Krishna river here.
Maharashtra has already built 11 projects illegally on the Godavari, hence robbing AP of its legitimate share, he said.
When Babli dam was under construction, Andhra Pradesh Congress leaders boasted to stop it, but they awfully failed and the Godavari valley in AP has now turned barren.
“Not a drop reaches the tail end”, he said.
