The Telugu Desam Party (TDP), the main opposition in the state, will agitate on fuel prices. Condemning the Center for its imposition of fuel hikes in diesel and LPG gas, TDP President and former Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara chandrababu Naidu today said the party would launch an agitation against the hike. He will lead a demonstration and procession from KBR Garden to checkpost at Jubilee hills in a symbolic protest. He had been invited by the CPI leaders Bardhan and Suravaram Sudhakar Reddy to Delhi to prepare grounds for a nationwide agitation on fuel cost hikes, he said. Alleging that the Center had hiked fuel cost by Rs 350 per cylinder (including all external costs ), Mr Naidu said if the TDP came to power it would give Rs 100 subsidy on LPG and also reduce prices of essential commodities within 100 days. He said the UPA-led Congress had broken the back of the common man by hiking fuel costs 25 times in the last six years leading to stagnation of development activities and also adversely hindering his purchasing capacity.
