Accusing Telangana Rashtra Samithi of spending more than Rs 200 crore on the MLC elections, the Telugu Desam Party on Monday demanded probe by Central Bureau of Investigation into all the transactions.
Addressing a press conference here, TDP floor leader in Assembly Errabelli Dayakar Rao alleged that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao resorted to horse-trading at a large scale and paid bribes to some MLAs of opposition parties to win five seats in the MLC elections. He said how TRS, which has strength of just 63 MLAs in the House, can win five seats. The additional votes were secured by paying huge bribes, he alleged. He also accused KCR of hatching a conspiracy to trap TDP MLA A Revanth Reddy. He pointed out that during the meeting of TRS Legislature Party he hinted to his legislators to get prepared to watch ‘breaking news’.
The TDP leader said Revanth Reddy had approached the court against the voting rights given to nominated Anglo-Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson. Therefore, it was Stephenson who approached Revanth Reddy offering to vote for TDP candidate Vem Narender Reddy in the MLC elections. He alleged that Revanth Reddy was selectively picked by KCR to defame him and the TDP. Alleging that the ruling party had spent over Rs. 200 crore to bribe MLAs, he dared KCR to order a CBI probe into the matter.
Errabelli said it was wrong on the part of KCR to target TDP MLAs, including Revanth Reddy, who particiapated in the statehood movement. He alleged that none of five MLC candidates of TRS took part in the Telangana movement. Even the MIM had opposed Telangana and is now sailing with the TRS. “KCR has been encouraging traitors of Telangana while suppressing those put their lives and careers at state to achieve statehood for Telangana,” he alleged.
