Kochi,May31: The Kerala High court today expressed displeasure over the conduct of a top official of the TDB, administering temples in the state, in staying certain transfers overriding a court order, and said his action “exceeded the authority”.
The court’s attention was drawn to media reports that Travancore Devaswom Board chief Devaswom Commissioner K Jayakumar, who is also additional chief secretary, had stayed certain transfers overriding its order and initiated suo motu proceedings based on the reports.
A division bench comprising Justices C N Ramachandran Nair and P S Gopinathan also directed the board commissioner Nalinakshan Nair to appear before it tomorrow with all files relating to transfers and postings of board employees.
Earlier, some trade unions of TDB had approached the court challenging certain transfers of devaswom employees and seeking stay, which was declined by the High Court.
After the court proceedings, Jaykumar had stayed the transfers.
