Hyderabad, May 28: “Telugu Desam Party (TDP) will launch a relentless fight for implementation of reservations for women, minorities and OBCs in all elected bodies including the state legislatures and the Parliament,” TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu said here today.
Inaugurating the threeday Mahanadu celebrations of the party at Gandipet here, Chandrababu Naidu observed that women, minorities and the OBCs were given a raw deal by the Congress governments both at the Centre and in the state. The TDP had always worked for the welfare of the marginalised and other depressed classes. “All along these sections have always rallied behind the party. It is our bounden duty to get reservations for these sections,” he said.
The TDP would chalk out an action programme at the Mahanadu to fight against the antipeople policies of the government as well as corruption, Chandrababu said.
Coming down heavily on the Congress Government in the state, the leader of opposition said corruption was ruling the roost while the government was serving only the vested interests.
Assuring party workers and cadre that the party would take care of their interests and well being, Chandrababu Naidu said that NTR Memorial Trust was extending support to the children and families of the party leaders and cadre who lost their lives. “Let me assure you that we will also come up with programmes with which our cadre and activists will stand on their own,” he said.
Referring to Manmohan Singh’s recent statement that he would make way for Rahul Gandhi to the Prime Minister’s post if the Congress Party took a decision to the effect, Chandrababu said it was nothing but undermining the nation as a whole.
Earlier in the day, Chandrababu hoisted the TDP flag at `Telugu Vijayam’ marking the inauguration of the threeday conference, held every year coinciding with the birth anniversary of party founderpresident N T Rama Rao on May 28. He also inaugurated a photo exhibition and a blood donation programme on the occasion. TDP senior leaders Yanamala Ramakrishnudu, K Yerran Naidu, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Nagam Janardhana Reddy, T Devender Goud and a host of others were present
