TD suspects CM hand behind statue demolition

Hyderabad, March 14: The Opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) today suspected the hand of Chief Minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy behind the demolition of statues on the Tank Bund during the recent million march.

“When the disputed structure was demolished in Ayodhya the then prime minister remained a spectator.

Likewise, when the statues were brought down on Tank Bund, the chief minister witnessed silently,” TDP MLA KS Ratnam has alleged.

Speaking to reporters here today, Ratnam alleged that there was a big conspiracy behind the demolition of the statues of eminent Telugu personalities. He felt that such incidents would dilute the T-movement. Had the government permitted the million march, such incidents would have been averted, he said.

Some selfish political parties wanted disturbance in Telangana so that the Telangana movement would be diluted, he opined.

He recalled that no violent incidents were reported in the last eight years of Tmovement.

The Congress had to pay a heavy price, if it neglected the aspirations of the Telangana people, he said.

On the demolition of the Telangana Talli statue by TRS activists in Medak district recently, Ratnam wanted the TRS to give an explanation for this. Demolition of Telangana Talli statue was unfortunate, he said.

Ratnam reiterated that the TDP was committed to the separate Telangana demand.

A T-state would be created through political process and individuals could not do anything.

The ruling Congress forgot this and was blaming TDP chief N Chandrbabau Naidu, he alleged. Naidu repeatedly said that he was not against Telangana, Ratnam pointed out.
