TD MLA taken to jail from hospital; wife cries

Rajhmundary, Jult 22: Expressing concern over the health of Kovvur MLA TV Rama Rao, his wife Venkata Sesharatnam has warned that Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and the CID police will be held responsible if anything goes wrong with the health of Rama Rao.

Explaining the plight of her husband after his arrest by the CID at his residence in Kovvur in West Godavari district yesterday, Sesharatnam said that the doctors at Guntur had told her that the MLA needed to be shifted to Hyderabad for better treatment.

But the CID officials took him away by an ambulance this morning without revealing the destination.

Finally, they brought Rama Rao to the Central Jail here at 2.20 pm today, she said and expressed surprise at the police taking the MLA to the jail instead of a better hospital in Hyderabad.

She alleged that the Congress Government had been trying to foist cases on Rama Rao to take revenge for his election on TDP ticket from Kovvur.

The CID officials avoided mediapersons who gathered at the entrance of the jail. When the ambulance reached the jail, it was reversed and Rama Rao was taken into the jail on a stretcher through the main gate.

Sesharatnam, her daughter Divyarani and Guntur Government General Hospital physician G Ramakrishna accompanied Rama Rao in the ambulance from Guntur to Rajahmundry.

Dr Ramakrishna said Rama Rao suffered from hypertension yesterday and it was brought under control. Local TDP leaders said Rama Rao complained of pain in the chest, hands and legs.
