TD men, JAC students exchange blows

Warangal, May 10: Telugu Desam functionaries and students of Kakatiya University JAC exchanged blows when the latter tried to disrupt the party activists meeting being held here today.

Demanding that agitations be launched in favour of separate Telangana, KU JAC students led by convener Vasudeva Reddy stormed Reddy Function Hall in the NGO Colony where the meeting was being held.
Raising pro-Telangana slogans, they tried to give a representation to the party leaders.

But the TDPmen attacked them abusing them for disrupting the meeting. Some activists held the students and forcibly pulled them towards the gate.
But party leaders Kadiyam Srihari, party district unit president Revuri Prakash Reddy, Gundu Sudha Rani and Dr Sudhakar Rao, who were present at the place, did not obstruct the activists. Later, they left the place showing no concern to the attack. The students squatted at the function hall for a long time in protest against the assault.

JAC convener Vasudeva Reddy alleged that the TDP activists had attacked his colleagues intentionally. He said that they would stage protests across the district opposing the TDP. They criticised the TDP leaders for failing to express sympathy to them.

INFIGHTING: Meanwhile, the group rivalry in the party alsocame to the fore at the meeting today. Supporters of Kadiyam Srihari, Dr Sudhakar Rao and Garikapati Mohan Rao had a dispute with regard to candidature for Rajya Sabha seat. Followers of Kadiyam Srihari demanded that he should be given the candidature while the supporters of Dr Sudhakar Rao and Garikapati Mohan Rao felt either of the two leaders be considered for the post.
