Kurnool, October 16: The Telugu Desam Party has extended help to 30,000 flood-hit families on a single day. Going door-to-door, the party leaders consoled the victims and handed over the relief material sponsored by NTR Trust.
Senior leaders and politburo members Erram Naidu, Nagam Janardhan Reddy, Devender Goud, Umamadhava Reddy, Kalva Srinivasulu, K Nageswara Rao, Mysoora Reddy, Jitender reddy, Rammohan Rao, Harish, K E Krishna Murthy and others toured in the divisions of the city today. Basing on the schedule, the leaders got divided into groups and toured the city.
A lorry-load of relief material was given to each division. The relief kit to a family contained 5-kg rice, two utensils, one blanket, one saree and a lungi. About 1,000 families were given relief kits in each division totaling to 30,000 families in 30 divisions.
Party district unit convener Somisetti Venkateswarlu claimed never before in the history of TDP was a service programme taken up on a large scale.
Party chief N Chandrababu Naidu was moved by the plight of the victims during his visit to the city and it was for the same reason that distribution of relief material was taken up such a huge scale, he said.
The Congress leaders, he said, were fearing to enter into the wards as floods occurred only due to the negligence of the government.
