Hyderabad, November 06: The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) activists tried to obstruct Telugu Desam Party (TDP) president N Chandrababu Naidu’s third day tour in Ranga Reddy district today. However, equally aggressive TDP workers severely beat up the TRS workers and handed them over them to the police at Medchel.
A large number of TRS activists raised slogans against Naidu and the TDP. But the TD men thrashed them. The police whisked away the TRS workers away and cleared the way for Naidu. Naidu who was on a tour to console the victims of micro finance institutions (MFIs), gave away cheques of Rs 5,000 each to the kin of victims on behalf of the TDP.
In the evening, while Naidu was returning to Hyderabad, traffic went haywire in Sainikpuri and Mettuguda, as police stopped the traffic for Naidu’s convoy to pass.
Later speaking to reporters, Naidu said crops in 10 lakh acres have been damaged and 15,000 houses and 4,000 handlooms were destroyed in the rains.
Naidu said the Centre team’s visit to state after Laila cyclone was mere a formality and no financial assistance came from the Centre.
