Hyderabad: On the eve of 26th January, Thelessimia Sickle Cell Society organized blood donation camps in Moghalpura, Tolki Chowki, Malakpet, Darul Salaam, Aghapura and other places.
A blood donation camp was organized to help patients suffering from anemia (thalassemia) as a protest against the implementation of the Citizenship Amendment Law
The blood donation camp started from 10am till late night.
Thalassemia is a blood disorder passed down through families (inherited) in which the body makes an abnormal form or inadequate amount of hemoglobin. Hemoglobin is the protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen. The disorder results in large numbers of red blood cells being destroyed, which leads to anemia.
