Hyderabad, February 17: The Telangana Coordination Committee (TCC) on Wednesday expressed its support to non-cooperation movement, a programme to be launched with single point agenda of achieving statehood to Telangana.
The TCC also condemned the prime minister’s statement that carving out separate Telangana was difficult.
Manmohan Singh even said that a consensus was necessary for according statehood to the region.
In a press statement issued here on Wednesday, committee chairman Prof A Gopala Kishan, secretary G Srinivasulu and treasurer A Rajender Babu urged tradesmen and other people to stop paying commercial tax and income tax respectively.
They also appealed to legislators and MPs of the Congress not to cooperate with the government in Assembly and Parliament sessions.
All political parties, they felt, should stall proceedings in the Assembly.
The committee members reiterated that they would extend complete support to any agitation planned, for separate Telangana, in true Gandhian and democratic method.
The TCC, they said, will shortly organise a get together of elected representatives from Telangana to mount pressure on the union government to hasten steps for formation of separate Telangana.
The TCC will take initiative and arrange a platform to enable leaders of all political parties supporting the cause of Telangana to unite.
This move, they felt, would send strong signals to the Centre and convey the aspirations of Telangana people.
