TC flays Yechury’s remark on Mamata

Kolkata, March 05: Trinamool Congress today criticised CPI(M) leader Sitaram Yechury for dubbing its chief Mamata Banerjee’s decision not to contest the assembly polls as her “weakness”, saying the comment was made out of frustration and showed that the Left Front was getting “panicky”.

“It is ridiculous that a man who has never participated in a direct election but always acted from outside is making such comment,” Trinamool Congress vice-president Subrata Mukherjee told reporters here.

Mukherjee said Banerjee had taken the decision not to contest the election to devote maximum time for campaigning for the party.

Banerjee had already said “she would lead the government from the very first day when the Ma-Mati-Manush (Trinamool slogan) government would be in office in West Bengal after the polls,” he said.
