Washington: In a generous gesture, singer-songwriter Taylor Swift donated a huge amount to help a fan whose mother is in a coma.
On October 1, a girl named Sadie Bartell posted a long message on her Twitter requesting her followers for help. “Hey guys. I’m really nervous to post this. Please help if you can and pray for my family.
I’m sorry I never said anything sooner and that I’m suddenly asking for help. I love you guys so much,” she wrote alongside her post.
Bartell linked a GoFundMe page to help raise money for her mother, Lauriann, who has been in a coma for three years, reported E! Online.
According to her post on Twitter, “Lauriann had an ulcer that bled out that led to lack of oxygen to the brain which resulted in brain damage. We take care of her at home full time.”
Later on, in her note, she also wrote about Swift and thanked her for “keeping me afloat through it all.”
Somehow, the ‘Delicate’ singer saw her fan’s love and donated USD 15,500 for the cause. She signed the donation, “Love, Taylor, Meredith and Olivia Swift.” Meredith and Olivia are the names of Taylor’s cats.
Bartell attended Swift’s 1989 tour concert in Nashville and also opened up about her mother’s health and the toll it took on her.
After Swift made the contribution, Bartell posted about it on Facebook and also expressed in a heartfelt message what the donation meant to her.
This is not the first time Swift has helped her fan. In early October, she met an 8-year-old fan named Jacob Hill, an autistic kid. The singer donated USD 10,000 to help get Jacob a service dog. Swift met Jacob and the dog Reid at her ‘Reputation’ show in Houston. Jacob and his family got backstage passes and front-row seats to the show.
In July, the ‘Love Story’ singer provided free tickets to police officers, firefighters and other residents of Weymouth, Massachusetts after police officer Sgt. Michael Chesna died while working days before her show.
