Hyderabad, March 10: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) did not even spare the Nehru Zoological Park. The enforcement officials of the civic body sealed the office and took away the movable properties as the Zoo park failed to clear the property tax arrears.
With their requests falling on deaf ears, the Zoo authorities were forced to issue a cheque for tax arrears to the tune of Rs 2.88 lakh. Only then, the GHMC officials had lifted the warrant and handed the seized properties back.
The tax officials also sealed the Shama Theatre in the Old city. After the owner paid Rs 1.10 lakh and issued a postdated cheque for the balance amount, the officials withdrew the warrant against the theatre. In its continuing tax raids, GHMC on Tuesday sealed 10 properties of top tax defaulters who owed more than Rs 1 lakh.
