Tata Power’s energy campaign to sensitise one million by 2010

Mumbai, August 25: Paving the way for a greener environment, Tata Power plans to sensitise one million citizens across India next year as part of its energy conservation campaign.

‘Tata Power Energy Club’, which comprises schools and schoolchildren seeking to curb energy wastage, has sensitised one lakh citizens across Mumbai, Pune, Delhi and Ahmedabad, the company said in a press release here today.

“The Tata Power Energy Club is racing towards its eventual goal of sensitising one million by 2010,” it said.

The conservation programme, which began with a pilot of 12 schools in Mumbai in 2007, is targetted at 100 schools across these four cities.

“We are committed towards creating a cleaner and emission-free environment,” Tata Power Managing Director Prasad Menon said.

In the first six months of the campaign this year, the private power utility reached out to 10,555 students in Mumbai through Megawatt Millionaire – a programme aimed at broadening the sensitisation process to the family and neighbourhood of the students involved.

The programme has been launched in Delhi, Jamshedpur, Ahmedabad and Pune.
