Tariq shots off letter to Nitish on Madarsa Board

Patna, August 26: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) General Secretary Tariq Anwar has shot off a letter to Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar alleging the Madarsa Education Board was in deplorable condition.

Anwar, who apprised the Chief Minister about the problems being faced by the board and its students, requested Kumar to take steps to better their lot.

A copy of the letter was made available today.

While the Madarsa Education Examination Board had condcuted examinations for Wastaniya, Faukaniya and Maulvi in 2008-09 in which around 1.52 lakh students, 1.20 lakh and 58,000 respectively appeared in the examinations, the results have not been declared so far jeopardising their (students) future, Anwar said.

Demanding a hike in the budget allocation for the Board, he said that for last several years Rs 25 lakh was being earmarked for the purpose but the amount has become insignificant in view of price rise and increase in numbers of students enrolled with the Board which has shot up from 40,000 to 3.82 lakh.

Anwar said that board was facing acute shortage of infrastructural facilities and functioning from few rooms which was proving very difficult to carry on its routine work.
