Tanzanian student killed in road accident

Hyderabad, February 14: A foreign national was among three persons who died in separate road accidents in the city since late yesterday.

A Tanzanian, who was partying late into the night with his friends, died when he met with an accident on his way back home on a two-wheeler.

Nickson Elinwema (20) was on his way to his room at Nacharam in an inebriated condition. He fell off from the vehicle and hit his head while he was returning to Uppal, police said.

Nickson came to the city last year and joined for BCom at RK Degree college at Himayathnagar. Ghatkesar police sub-inspector R Ravi said Nickson had a party with his friends at Sainikpuri yesterday night. He was taken to a friend’s house later but he left for home around 1.30 a.m. on his Honda Activa.

“At Uppal, he lost his way and went towards Ghatkesar. But realising his mistake, he called up his friends and asked for help,” Ravi said. Though his friends offered to pick him up, Nickson started on his return journey. “At Narapally, Nickson lost control over his vehicle and fell and hit his head on the road divider,” the SI said. He was later found by his friends and rushed to the hospital where he was declared dead.

In another incident, an air-conditioner mechanic P Yellamaiah (41) was crushed to death under the wheels of an oil tanker at Rethibowli late yesterday night. The rear wheels of the tanker ran over him killing him on the spot.

In the third incident, a private employee. K Srinivas (28) was knocked down by a speeding motorist today at Uppal. He died while being shifted to a hospital.
