Ghaziabad, March 24: Relying on a tantrik to ‘ward off evil’ has seemingly proved costly for the family of a Sahibabad doctor. The 45-year-old doctor was allegedly murdered by the tantrik when he stopped him from making advances towards his wife and 17-year-old daughter. Dr Mukesh Sharma (name changed), a general physician who ran run a clinic in the Farukh Nagar area of Ghaziabad, was murdered by Jaipal Sharma and his two sons on March 10, police said on Tuesday. “The tantrik used to frequent the victim’s house in the name of offering his services,” Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Raghubir Lal said. “After some time, the accused tried to make advances towards the victim’s wife and also his daughter.” Upset with what was going on, the doctor asked the accused to stop coming to his house. Police sources said the tantrik had developed relations with the victim’s wife and had also exploited his daughter in the name of performing charms. “Unable to bear the hindrance caused by the doctor, the accused and his two married sons abducted the doctor in the first week of March and took him to an isolated place under Jani police station area of Meerut district,” the SSP said. “There, they shot him dead and disposed off the dead-body in the Meerut canal area.”
“His two sons – Akash and Vikas Sharma – fled the spot and are absconding. We are trying to locate them and will arrest them soon,” the SSP said.
