Dharamsala: Tamim Iqbal struck a brilliant half-century as Bangladesh secured a trilling eight-run win over a spirited Netherlands in the World Twenty20 qualifier clash in Dharamsala on Wednesday.
Put in to bat, Bangladesh relied heavily on Tamim (83 off 58 balls) as the swashbuckling opener couldn’t get any substantial support from any of his fellow batsmen. The Asia Cup finalist eventually made 153 for seven in their stipulated 20 overs.
Netherlands medium-pacer Timm van der Gugten was the pick of the bowlers for Netherlands with three scalps.
In reply, Netherlands batsmen failed to convert good starts into big totals as they were restricted to 145 for seven in their allotted 20 overs.
The top sides from Group A and B will move in to the Super 10 stage, which will feature the eight established teams of world cricket. (ANI)
