Thanjavur district collector A.Annadurai today handed over a cheque for Rs 4 lakh to a relative of a 65-year-old man who was killed by a crocodile while he was taking bath at Kollidam river in the district. The cheque was given as per the order from the chief minister to pay the solatium from the relief given by the forest department for those killed by wild animals.
The cheque was given to Murthy, kin of the deceased, officials said. Sellakannu of Anaikarai was killed by the crocodile when he had gone to bathe in the Kollidam river on July 3.
