Tamil Nadu: Modi to inaugurate Dr Kalam’s memorial in Rameswaram today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Thursday inaugurate Dr APJ Abdul Kalam’s memorial at Pei Karumbu in Tamil Nadu’s Rameswaram on the second death anniversary of the former President.

Prime Minister Modi will unveil a statue of Dr Kalam, and will offer a floral tribute. He is also scheduled to interact with the family members of Dr Kalam.

The Prime Minister will hoist the national flag at the memorial designed and built by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) in Pei Karumbu, the PMO said in a statement on Wednesday.

Later, the Prime Minister would flag off ‘Kalam Sandesh Vahini’, an exhibition bus, which would travel across various states of the country and reach Rashtrapati Bhavan on October 15, which marks the birth anniversary of the former President.

The Prime Minister will also address a public rally at Mandapam and will inaugurate a number of welfare measures.
