Tamil Nadu man falls to death from waterfalls while clicking selfie

Coimbatore: The craze for selfie claimed the life of a 22-year-old man, who fell to his death from waterfalls while attempting to take a photograph of himself in the hilly Nilgiris district, police said.

According to a report by Hindustan Times, the man was identified as Ranjithkumar, who went on a weekend sightseeing trip. He was trying to click a selfie at the Catherine Falls in Kotagiri when he lost his balance and fell on Saturday, police informed.

The body of the man, hailing from Mettupalayam, was recovered on Sunday and handed over to his family, police said.

In a similar incident in Jharkhand, two boys had died while taking a selfie. The boys had gone with a girl to Jonha waterfall, 40 km from Ranchi. All three were taking the selfie, when they lost balance and fell down. The girl was saved by locals but the boys could not be saved.
