Tall promises made by BJP during polls appear to be hollow: NC

Ruling National Conference today attacked BJP, saying the party made tall claims during the Lok Sabha election campaign, but the promises appear to be hollow as the common man is being hit hard by inflation now.

“The tall claims and catchy promises appear to be hollow with the common man getting terribly hit by inflation and alarming price rise,” Provincial President National Conference Devender Singh Rana said today.

He was addressing workers at Udhampur.

Rana said though it will be premature to comment now, yet the change that was promised by BJP does not seem to be imminent.

“BJP and its xerox copy PDP have been good at marketing, but as and when the people reposed trust in them and gave them the rare opportunity to govern, they miserably failed and let down the people. As a consequence, they got exposed,” Rana said.

“In Jammu and Kashmir, the role of BJP has all along been divisive and with the tacit support of PDP, they have mastered in polarising situations,” he alleged.

“National Conference has always strengthened the bond between various segments of the society as secularism forms the core of its policy,” he said.

“Given the record card of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah during the past over five and half years together with people-friendly policies, National Conference is all set to emerge as the single largest party in the ensuing elections.

“Notwithstanding the challenges and conspiracies of vested interests, NC has remained at the centrestage of the state politics and will remain so in the future as well,” he said.

Rana said the NC government implemented welfare schemes, launched new projects and provided equal opportunities of progress to all the three regions and sub-regions.

“By creating new administrative units, administration has come to the doorsteps of the people,” he said.

Referring to the panchayat election, he said it paved larger role for rural people in decision making.

“We are confident about public support for making National Conference the premier party of all the three regions of Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh,” he said.

Assembly elections are due in the state later this year.
