Municipal Administration Secretary Navin Mittal on Wednesday held talks with the representatives of Municipal Workers Unions Joint Action Committee in an attempt to resolve their long pending demands.
Navin Mittal informed the members that the welfare of municipal workers was the top priority of the State government. The government was willing to resolve their pending issues in an amicable manner, he said. The discussions were held in a cordial and conducive atmosphere.
The unions’ leaders raised various issues relating to the welfare of the municipal workers and the government responded in a positive manner. It was decided to meet again on August 28 for further discussions on the issue of wage hike to the municipal workers. Representatives of INTUC, AITUC, CITU, AITUC, IFTU, BMS and HMS participated in the discussions. (NSS)
