Talk to Google’s new cell, it types texts

Washington, January 06: Google has launched its Nexus One, the newest Android-powered phone equipped by a voice-enabled keyboard for text fields as a serious competitor to the popular iPhone.

The Nexus One runs on Google’s own Android 2.1 operating system and features a touchscreen display. It comes with all Google Mobile apps pre-installed.

Users can find classic applications like search, maps, Gmail, YouTube and Google Talk, with additional goodies like maps navigation and Google voice.

Nexus One’s new feature that attracted attentions is a voice-enabled keyboard for any text field. The keyboard enables users to speak to their phone and it does the text messaging, email writing, or search querying for them.

Google’s own brand mobile phone has a 3.7″ display. The phone is going on sale Tuesday online.

Consumers will be able to buy the Nexus One for $179 if they commit to a two-year service contract with T-Mobile USA.

Google also will offer versions of the Nexus One that will give consumers the option of selecting the wireless networks of other major carriers.

The price of these so-called “unlocked” phones is reportedly $529.
