Taliban threaten to kill Imran Khan

Proposed march against US drone attacks can prove dear to Pakistani cricket star turned politician Imran Khan, as the Taliban have threatened to kill him if he holds a planned march to their tribal stronghold along the Afghan border.

Imran Khan is being targeted by the Pakistani Taliban because he calls himself a “liberal” and lacks religious belief. ‘Our suicide bombers will kill him if he comes.’ Spokesman Ahsanullah Ahsan said.

The threat could come as a surprise to many in Pakistan because he was nicknamed by some of his critics as “Taliban Khan” because of his views and his cozy ties with Talibans.

Imran Khan is the founder of the Pakistan Movement for Justice Party and has gained momentum over the last year after more than a decade in politics. He is also a famous person in Pakistan because he led the country’s cricket team to victory in the 1992 World Cup.
