Kabul, June 15: Taliban militants killed five Afghan policemen and wounded another two during a raid on a police post on the outskirts of the southeastern city of Ghazni, a senior police commander said Tuesday.
The overnight attack in the capital of Ghazni province overpowered the seven-man post, deputy provincial police chief Nawrooz Ali Mehmoodi told.
The militants escaped and the two wounded policemen were taken to Ghazni city hospital, he said.
A Taliban spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, claimed responsibility for the attack and said the militants killed all seven policemen in the post.
The Afghan government controls Ghazni city and provincial district centres, but militants rule most outlying villages in the province.
