Tale of a reverted Muslim

34-year-old Abdul Jabbar roam about the streets of Charminar with a tray with neck strap, selling accessories like comb, handkerchief, makeup items etc.. He braves the heat, cold and rain from 11 am to 11 pm. He has been struggling like this for the past 8 years. He earns atleast Rs. 300 daily by selling these items.

Abdul Jabbar hails from Shankarpalli, Viqarabad. Abdul Jabbar whose birth name is Janardhan Reddy embraced Islam 9 years ago. He revealed that he was restless from within before coming to the folds of Islam. After embracing Islam he became a practicing Muslim. He maintains punctuality of namaz. He offers Zohr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha prayers with congregation at Jama Masjid Charminar while at work. He is also very much concerned about prevailing waywardness in the society. At the time of every prayer he performs ablution which revitalizes him.

He has two sons Abdur Rahman and Abdur Raheem, while two children died two days after their birth. He is imparting Arabic and religious education to his sons along with modern education.

The mobile shop hanging onto his neck contains items worth Rs. 2500.
