Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the GHMC has decided to reach the target of setting up 150 centers to serve Rs 5 meal scheme in the twin cities. He launched a food serving center in collaboration with “Hare Krishna Movement” at ESI Hospital at Erragadda in his Sanathnagar Assembly constituency and had the meals along with a few officials.
Speaking on the occasion, Srinivas Yadav appreciated Hari Krishna Movement’s service motto and its president Satyagaura Chandradas for the support to the noble cause. Aim of the GHMC was to serve over 50,000 people through setting up 150 such food centers. He said with the new center at ESI, a total of 64 GHMC food serving centers are catering to the food needs of over 300 to 400 people in the twin cities. The government has decided to provide food at low cost as those, who are coming to the city cannot afford the same in hotels.
As many as five lakh people visit the city, including students, workers and other poor people and the GHMC food centers will prove handy, he hoped. These centers are serving food at Rs 5 as against the actual cost of Rs 27 by bearing Rs 22, he added. (NSS)
