Bangalore, August 05: The High Court on Wednesday told a man to allow his wife to be with her parents and take her after she turns 21. Sandeep (name changed), an employee of a travel agency and Gowri (20) (name changed), a BE III semester student hailing from Madenahalli in Maddur taluk of Mandya district had married recently.
Following a habeas corpus petition filed by the girl’s parents stating that their daughter had gone missing and mentioning Sandeep as one of the respondents, the couple was produced before a division bench comprising Justice N Ananda and Justice Vegi Suri Appa Rao.
The bench told Sandeep to allow his wife to be with her parents and take her after she turns 21. It also directed the girl’s parents not to force her for second marriage. The bench gave this direction referring to a similar order by Justice K Bhaktavatsalam.
