Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed Ministers and party legislators to take on the Opposition and give a fitting reply if it tries to stall the proceedings of the Assembly’s Winter Session beginning from December 16 and concluding on 30.
According to the information, the House is expected to witness heated arguments and a logjam as the BAC has agreed for taking up the infamous demonetization issue. At the insistence of MIM leader Akbaruddin Owaisi, KCR reportedly agreed to take up a decision to discuss on “note ban” row and the first day of the winter session is to witness the heat. In that case, the members of the Opposition parties will take every chance to take a dig at the State government for first opposing note ban decision when the Centre announced it and later taking a reverse turn on the issue.
The Opposition is to take on the Centre as well as the KCR government for initially taking on the Centre over the note ban decision causing about Rs 3000 crore loss to its exchequer. The treasury benches are asked to be ready to give a spontaneous reply on the issues raised and calm down the members of the opposition. The Congress, TD have already announced to corner the government on crop loan issue, fees reimbursement, housing scheme for poor, land distribution for Dalits, redesign of projects and irrigation works and others.
As the BAC meeting has decided to conduct the house for 12 working days and will remain closed on Dec 18, 24 and 25 being holidays. KCR who is the Leader of the House asked the party leaders to be prepared with complete information to preempt the opposition leaders’ criticism and comments. KCR is said to have asked the TRS leaders to ensure that the house is conducted smoothly and continue the business as usual. A few laws are expected to be enacted during the session that is ought to take up some flagship programs for discussion. The chief minister has already instructed the officials including heads of departments with complete data when the house seeks to dispense among the members. (NSS)
