‘Take care of own country’: Shah tells Pak PM

MUMBAI: A day after Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan cited veteran actor Naseeruddin Shah to describe “intolerance against Muslims in India”, the Bollywood actor responded saying that he shouldn’t be commenting on issues that don’t concern him.

“I think Mr Khan should be walking the talk in his own country instead of commenting on issues that don’t concern him. We have been a democracy for 70 years and we know how to look after ourselves,” Naseeruddin Shah told the Sunday Express.

The cricketer-turned-politician on Saturday asserted that he will show the Modi government “how to treat minorities.”

He was speaking at an event highlighting the 100-day achievements of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led Punjab government in Lahore.

“We will show the Modi government how to treat minorities…Even in India, people are saying that minorities are not being treated as equal citizens,” said Imran as he referred to Naseeruddin Shah’s statement.
