Tajikistan Foreign Minister arrives in Delhi

Tajikistan Foreign Minister Aslov Sirojidin Muhridinovich on Monday arrived in the national capital for a five-day official visit to India.

During his visit, Muhridinovich is expected to hold talks with External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Union Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

Muhridinovich’s visit comes after Prime Minister Narendra Modi had reportedly told Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani that India is ready to join a trade agreement between Pakistan, Afghanistan and Tajikistan as a fourth partner.

India and Tajikistan have close and cordial relations, with the two sides signing a programme of cooperation in culture for the year 2012-2015 during President Emomali Rahmon’s visit to India in September 2012. India has also supported Tajikistan’s accession to the WTO. (ANI)
