Meerut: BJP MLA, Sangeet Singh Som, who is known for making controversial statements, has said that Taj Mahal, Akbar, Babar are blots to the Indian Culture.
While addressing a gathering in Meerut, he claimed that Shah Jahah tried to wipe out the Hindus and killed his father, how can he be included in the Indian history.
Appreciating the act by Uttar Pradesh government of removing Taj Mahal from tourist destinations list, he guaranteed that history will change now. He also stated Mughals’ contribution to the Indian history is insignificant.
He further said that UP government is repairing the history which was distorted earlier. Names such as Ram, Shivaji Rao are now added in the new books by Uttar Pradesh government, he added.
The Uttar Pradesh tourism booklet, which was recently released, included Adityanath’s Gorakhpur temple but had no mention of the Taj Mahal.
Media reports quote Uttar Pradesh BJP spokesperson, Anila Singh as saying that Som made the statements in his own capacity.
