Telangana Auto Drivers Joint Action Committee (TADJAC) demanded the Telangana State government to immediately suspend the Legal Metrology Weights and Measures Department Inspector Ramakrishna, against whom they had filed a complaint for allegedly issuing bogus auto meter verification certificates.
At a press meet on Tuesday, TAD-JAC alleged that Ramakrishna’s issue is a classic example to show as to what extent corruption is taking place in LMWM department. The JAC alleged that there is no response from the LMWMD controller though they lodged a complaint six months ago in this regard. More so, Ramakrishna is performing his duties at Atthapur Meter Sealing Office as usual, said JAC convener Amanullah Khan. The JAC warned the government that they will take up agitation path in case the government failed to suspend him immediately.
Amanullah Khan alleged that the LMWMD issued about 7,000 bogus certificates in twin cities and taking Rs.700 to 1000 per each bogus meter verification certificate. He also alleged that the LMWMD has to do auto meter testing every year to one lakh autos of Hyderabad city, but instead of doing it properly the department officials were taking Rs.25,00,000 (Rs. 25 from each auto) as bribe from autos.
