Tactics dividing people wont last long: JP

Hyderabad: Stating that the ‘zero-some game politics’ for votes by dividing people on the basis of caste, religion, region and language will not last long, Loksatta founder-president Dr Jayaprakash Narayan has said the Gujjars in Rajastan, Patidars in Gujarat, Kapus in Andhra Pradesh and Jats in Haryana were best examples for division politics.
In a pressnote here on Saturday, JP said there was no magic wand except providing quality education and health without showing any discrimination will only eradicate poverty and provide equal opportunities. Instead of discussing on how to provide reservations to the eligible in reserved category and how to provide opportunities to the eligible in out of reservation category, the political parties were creating ruckus between the Dalits-OBCs, BCs-OCs, Hindus-Muslims, people of North-South for the sake of votes.
“How long the political parties would divide the people? Cordiality needed for the development”, he said. He paid deep tributes to writers Harper Lee and Umberto Eco, who influenced crores of people across the world died recently. (NSS)
