Tabu took up offbeat roles much before women-centric films debate came into picture

Tabu, who turned 45 today, has chosen characters that are considered unconventional in Bollywood. Whether it is Astitva or Cheeni Kum, she has always left a powerful impact on the audience with her dialogue delivery and charm.

The two times national award winning actress had begun her journey in Bollywood with Pehla Pehla Pyar opposite Rishi Kapoor, however, she gained popularity with Vijaypath in 1994.

Tabu did some offbeat roles much before the women-centric debate became a highlight in the industry. Maachis (1996), Astitva (2000), Virasat (1997), Chandni Bar (2001), Cheeni Kum (2007) and Maqbool (2003) are some of her best movies and recently Golmaal Again is doing quite good at the box office.

In Hu Tu Tu, Tabu portrayed a character based on education, politics and misuse of power. While in Haider, even with a grey character, she stole the show.
