NEW DELHI: Harrowing footage of the final moments of Tabrez Ansari‘s life has been surfaced showing “the world the truth” about how he was treated before his death in custody.
A CCTV footage of Sadar Hospital where Ansari was rushed for treatment following the brutal assaulted by villagers showed the ‘unprofessional and inhumane’ attitude of the Jharkhand police.
The footage from June 18 accessed by Times Now shows Ansari was grabbed by the collar while on his way to the doctor. The footage shows Ansari was limping as he is brought in to the hospital.
He even deprived of the stretcher that could be seen just a few inches away from where they were.
From the footage, it is visible that the conduct of the police officers involved was well below the standards expected. The brutality of Ansari’s death is inexcusable as the officers disregarded his right to treatment that was even agreed by the doctor at one of the hospitals the victim was taken.

“He did not complain of any pain, but there were bruises on his body. Tests should have been done. It was laxity on our part,” Dr. B Mari, Deputy Superintendent, Sadar Hospital, Saraikela.
The distraught and inconsolable family members of the victim also alleged that he would be alive if the administration had shown a little bit of sympathy and given the minimum medical attention.
The 22-year-old newly married youngster, who was in judicial custody after he was brutally thrashed by a mob at Dhatkidih village in Seraikela district on suspicion of stealing a bike, died last Saturday after he complained of nausea, vomiting and chest pain, and fell unconscious.
Meanwhile, the team that conducted the post-mortem on June 22 told The Indian Express that the cause of death was “in all possibility” by a brain hemorrhage triggered by a head injury that went undetected.
