Ranchi: The Tabrez mob lynching case took a new turn with as many as six out of 13 accused were granted bail by Ranchi bench of Jharkhand High court on Tuesday.
According to reports, the counsel of the accused said before the court that the video is not clear which men had hit Tabrez causing his death, Indiatoday reports.
Jharkhand’s Saraikela Kharsawan District was in headlines for Tabrez mob lynching case.
The mob lynching incident happened on June 17, 2019 after which a video went viral showing Tabrez Ansari tied to a pole while people mercilessly thrash him in Dhatkidih village.
In the video, Tabrez was forced to chant Jai Shri Ram and Jai Hanuman while on June 22 Tabrez succumbed to his injuries.
The police had booked thirteen accused in connection with the case under Section 302 of IPC but later the police changed the Section to 304.
After much outrage Section 304 was reinstated against the 13 accused.
Meanwhile the probe also proved the authenticity of the viral video was found to be correct with no tampering.
