Hyderabad: The members of Telangana Upadhyaya Sanghala Porata Samithi (TUSPS) staged a dharna at Indira Park dharna chowk here on Monday demanding that the State government implement common service rules for teachers. Leaders from various political parties visited the dharna camp in their support.
Speaking at the dharna camp, BJPLP leader Dr K. Laxman said his party would raise the issues of teachers in the upcoming Assembly budget session. He also demanded that the government fill teachers’ backlog posts. He said, “The TRS Government was only dreaming of KG to PG free education in the State and conveniently ignored the pressing need of strengthening government schools which is significant in eradication of illiteracy”, Dr Laxman said.
Telangana Political JAC convener Prof. Kodandaram stressed the urgent need to refurbish government schools and also demanded that the government implement common service rules for teachers. He sought issue of health cards providing free treatment to teachers’ families in corporate hospitals or create a special ward for them in all the government hospital in the State.
TDP MLA and BC leader R. Krishnaiah said he would fight with the State government until all the genuine demands of teachers were resolved. CPI-M MLA Sunnam Rajaiah urged the government to fulfill the demands of teachers like common service rules, upgradation of PET posts, old pension for 2003 batch recruits, notional increments for special teachers, 2 years child care leave for women employees.
